The last resort of Piratas? - Oct 4, 2017
It's hard to believe one week ago that Club Iccan de Macas was have to great finals against Piratas de Los Lagos where would have to won three of the three first matches in this series. Jesus Centeno has played almost all the minutes of this matches, and with his smart and habilities has been easy to take the control since go of each matches. Juan Herrera (197-F-81) has been a great defensive player and showed many efficients in the long distance shot. Carlos Carcelen with greatest deffensive demostration has been another important key in the ICCAN's machine. Piratas didn't show all his strengths : speed, hability and long shooters. Piratas didn't find the deffensive solutions add up to the terrible field goal percentage. Today is the las resort to Lucas Gil and his guys, if today the things doesn't change, it could be possible that Juan Jose Pidal will win his 3rd tittle in Ecuatorian League ( Mavort and UTE), but he had lost the last two.

It was like a previously final, when this Thursday Leonas de Riobamba played with Deportivo de Quito in their 1st match of the seaason, 1st match in their home and their 1st match betwen two of the must favorite teams for this season. Leonas won thanks the experience and made goal field from Ivaney Marquez (177-SF-83, college: Grayson County CC), Mariana Duran and Yosimar Corrales (184-F/C-90) both players have been important in the team structure and in the Venezuelan National Team.
Physically I'm feeling good. This team has treated us very well and I feel happy to stay here said Ivaney Marquez.
Oscar Silva has showed very satisfied with his group of players and with opportunity to work in Ecuador.
Leonas has a great team with the international refoircements and with the national players, headed by Marjorie Caicedo (180-F-90) and Jessica Preciado (190-C-90).
In the another side of the court, Deportivo de Quito has had greatest movements. They show a big roster with three imporrtants US players: Brianna Banks (175-PG-93, college: Penn St., agency: ProDep Management), Danielle McCray (186-SG-87, college: Kansas) and Yanique Gordon (193-F/C-91, college: Cent.Florida). Plus this, the national power is headed by Dayanna Salcedo and a great group.
Paul Beltran has tried to show a offensive face in the two first matches, but the deffensive is the remains to do for the team.
This week Leonas will play againts Club Santa Maria Machala , while Deportivo will be play for 1st time in Quito with Real Bolivar Guaranda . By the way, Real Bolivar did a agree with Liga Universitaria de Quito, one of the must important soccer team of the city to work together for this season, and for a long time agreement.

Leones de Riobamba took the last ticket to the semifinal of the Ecuador LNB with a victory over Importadora Alvarado 61x70 in match that was played in Ambato this Saturday night. Until the 3rd quarter the actions was close, but the offensive reaction of the Carlos Gorosito 's team reach the pace to over the Importadora's defensive strategies and took the advantage of the scoreboard without to lose it by the rest of the match. Javinger Vargas (202-C-90) went out of the match with an injury in his finger, but they think that he Will be ready for to play the next Tuesday in Macas, when Leones will be going to play the 1st match of the Semifinals against ICCAN. Alexander Morillo (180-PG-92) has had big matches in the last weeks, but yesterday has been the best performance in the defensive field. And the support on the boards of Corbyn Jackson (198-F) and Reggie Charles (201-F-81) was mandatory for win in front to one of the best defensive teams in the league. The constant input of Andres Cochambay (191-F-87) and his effective input in the rush time was another key for the victory. Importadora had trouble in all the season with the pointguard player rotation. Luciano Martinez coach had great contribution for offensive from Tavarez Sledge and Jarret Blocker. Add the Jhon Romero (199-F-85) great behaviour in the pivot tasks ( defensive and offensive ). But the lost ball in the critical moments were the weakness that showed the Ambatos team in the two lastest games and Riobamba took advantage of it. I would have liked to play against Pepe in the finals, but the basketball is like that said Gorosito.We got to focus. They have many changes and we have to defend them well said Pidal. The challenge for Riobamba in this semifinals will be stop of a great offensive team like ICCAN; with players who have had great experience in finals like Juan Herrera (197-F-81), Jesus Centeno (190-G-85) and Cesar Silva (190-G/F-81), add Juan Alvarez with his local experience give more depth to the Juan Jose Pidal l's team. ICCAN's team need to show their offensive power and with the great experience for their players they are favorite over the Leones. In the regular season they divided. ICCAN won the 1st match of the tournament casually over Leones 73x52, where Alexander Morillo got injured. And in the 2nd match Leones won 81x74. In this series each team won his game on the way.ICCAN didn't have Juan Herrera in the 1st match. This serie will begin next tuesday in Macas. It playing Tuesday and Wednesday in ICCAN's home, and will travel to Riobamba Friday, and if necessary Saturday and next Tuesday will come and next tuesday will go to macas to play at 5th game if necessary.
