FYR Macedonian U-20 team wins 13-th place on the European Championship in Romania - Jul 24, 2017

Macedonian youth team won 13th place at the European Championship (Division B), which until yesterday was played in Oradea, Romania, finishing the same, with a second triumph over the selection of Albania with 65-71 (15-7,16-26,13-22). First place selection at this continental meeting is the host who received promotion in A Division.

The Macedonian team started the championship in the group C against the teams from Georgia,Malta,Romania and Albania. They have started the championship with a triumph over Albania (62-54), followed by two defeats,from the favourite in the group Georgia (78-48) and from the host Romania (63-58).Malta was wiped out at the end of the group stage with 60-99 and as third placed in group C the Macedonian team struggled against the four-placed selection from group D for the ranking from the 9th to the 16th place.

The luck was on the side of Kosovo (64-66) ,so Macedonia had to compete for 13-16 place. Albania as the final opponent in the battle for 13th place was given a lesson from the Macedonian team and they secured the 13th place of this European Championship.

The European basketball championship under 18, Division B in Dublin,Ireland just ended for the Macedonian team as they finished as 21st at the championship. After two defeats from Kosovo (72-68) and Estonia (80-76), the players of the coach Jordanco Davitkov finally clinched the first win at the pre-qualifiers games for the upcoming World Cup in China 2019.
